Tate Merten
Tate has been a Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer since 1988. He graduated from Western Illinois University in 1988 with a degree in Corporate Fitness/ Cardiac Rehabilitation with a specialization in Athletic Training. In 1989, Mr. Merten started his professional career in Livonia, Michigan working for two high schools. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1991 with a Master's Degree in Athletic Training. After graduation, he worked as an outreach athletic trainer for Round Lake High School via Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. After a hospital merger, he was fortunate to work for Granite City High School for 23 years. In 2018, he joined Multicare Specialists family.
During Mr. Merten's 30 plus years he has worked with professional tennis, football, and baseball players, numerous collegiate athletes of all sports, and countless numbers of high school athletes. He has past certifications as an American College of Sports Medicine Fitness Instructor and National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Mr. Merten has volunteered for many high school, collegiate, and international athletic competitions. Highlighted by the NCAA Division 1 Wrestling Championships, NCAA Division Il National Track and Field Championships, Jackie Joyner-Kersee International Track and Field Meet, and is a current member of the IHSA Individual State Wrestling Medical team.
